My Best Bud & Sidekick
I lost my best bud and sidekick yesterday after a long fight with what was most likely a brain tumor. New guy Wittman was mama‘s boy and never wanted me out of his sight. He also has the award for best cuddler.
New guy was dumped outside of Wittman Arizona in the middle of summer 2022. I was contacted about him and jumped in the car 15 minutes later to drive down to get him. He had never been in a house before, and dug a hole, and spent the first four days outside. Once he finally braved the house, he discovered mom‘s bed and that’s where he liked to sleep.
Six months ago, he had what we were to be two strokes, and was pretty much catatonic. He couldn’t even sit up by himself. I laid in bed the majority of the next three days, holding him upright and being close. With time he got better and better learning to walk and getting stable again. He was a notorious counter surfer, and I said that if he got better I would never discipline him for that again. He did, indeed get his counter surfing skills back in full force, breaking dozens of dishes through the past six months.
As cancer would have it, it caught up with him and we decided yesterday that it was his time. We said goodbye in front of the Christmas tree at our home and he is now peacefully laid to rest next to his BFF Stig.
I will miss my new guy. I had a special connection to this boy. Fly free, sweet new Guy. Mama will always love you.
