Boy did I love this little guy! What a bundle of personality. Sir Geoffrey Shuffles was approximately 17 years old and was rescued by Yavapai Humane trappers from the Indian reservation. He was discovered stuck in a cattle guard and no one knows quite how long he was there. We stepped up immediately to bring him to Dogtree Pines as we did not want him in boarding a day longer. When we got him, I thought he maybe had a few days left. He seemed blind and deaf and basically just went around in circles. I started with good food and supplements for dementia and cognitive function. Over the next few weeks, he improved daily to the point where he was cruising around the property like he owned the place. He loved his food and would snap and anyone that even looked at him wrong. He always got the pots after the chicken was done cooking and absolutely loved those as you can see. He slept in bed with me most nights and slept like a rock until he needed to pee in which case he shuffled over and woke me up. He started to deteriorate in July so the vet put him on prednisone. We suspect he had some cancer in his nasal cavity, or worse, in his brain. He started feeling great again and we got another few good weeks out of him until his body said no more! He passed in my arms with his little head tucked onto my shoulder. He is buried in the forest overlooking his favorite Ravine that he would shuffle out to regularly and then get stuck out there not knowing how to get back and yell for help. I am so glad we got the opportunity to give him a happy and loved life for the last few months. Fly high Sir Geoffrey Shuffles! We love you!
