FLY HIGH DAISY MAE
We lost the matriarch of our family today. Her mind wanted to keep going but her body just quit. She came to us by chance about six months ago as I passed her owner on the street and stopped to give Daisy a little love. She came to live at Dogtree Pines two days later and took over the place. I will never forget watching her in the backyard after her mom left, she started doing bucking bronco around in circles and got crazy rowdy. That’s when I knew that old gal still had some life left. She inspected every new dog as they came in and mothered all the new kids. She had a couple of old boyfriends, Baby Bear and Newman, but she outlived them both. She was as tough as nails and didn’t let anyone get away with any shit. We took one last trip to her favorite spot at the courthouse square and she smiled until the moment she fell fast asleep under the big trees. I didn’t expect to, but I fell fast in love with this dog. What a big personality and a glowing smile. She was simply beautiful in my eyes….and she was a badass! So glad that I was able to spend the last six months with her. She was laid to rest in the forest next to lifelong friend, BabyBear, wrapped in a robe from her dad and original owner, along with her toys as a baby. Daisy was 15 years and 3 months old. Fly high Daisy Mae. I will always cherish the times that we went “Driving Miss Daisy”. ❤️

DAISY'S STORY
Welcome to Miss Daisy Mae. "Single, multi-colored female, 15-years old, looking for love and a soft bed." She is a German Shepherd mix. She was scheduled to be put down on a few days after I met her until I unknowingly intervened. She is now at Dogtree Pines living out the rest of her life. In a short time, she has become the matriarch of the pack and when she speaks, everyone listens...even the chow. Her owner has committed to a monthly donation to help with her care which is much welcomed as she will be #9 at the sanctuary. Welcome Daisy Mae to the pack.
